The Mid Year Book Tag 2020

I saw this over on Food and Other Loves and thought it would be a great idea to fill it out! Let me know if you take part too – I’d love to read your answers!

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2020?

The Keeper by Diane Saxon – I mentioned it in my top 5 books of 2020 so far as my favourite and it still is. The storyline kept me gripped and I am keen to read more from the author.

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2020?

That will have to be Murder Under The Sun from the Cherringham series by Matthew Costello and Neil Richards as all the other books I’ve read are either stand alones or the start of a new series.

3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to?

The Guest List by Lucy Foley – and I was lucky enough to win it in a giveaway so I just need to get round to reading it now!

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year?

The Lending Library by Aliza Fogelson – I saw it on my Prime Reads and it looks really interesting!

5. Biggest disappointment?

The Beach House by P.R Black – I reviewed it here. Some of it was just a littleĀ too far fetched.

6. Biggest surprise?

The House Party by Mary Grand – I went into it with some reservations from the first few pages but really got into it and really enjoyed it!

7. Favourite new author?

I wouldn’t say they were new but they are new to me and that would be Jane Isaac.

8. New fictional crush?

I don’t really have one but if I had to choose a guy from the books I have read it, it would be Francesco from The Love Square by Laura Jane Williams.

9. Favourite new character?

Jenna Morgan from The Keeper by Diane Saxon. She doesn’t take any crap.

10. A book that has made you cry?

None of the books I have read so far this year have made me cry!

11. A book that made you happy?

All of them! I don’t stick with books that make me unhappy.

12. Favourite review you’ve written?

I think it has to be this one.

13. Most beautiful book you’ve bought?

That would be A Little Pick Me Up by Katie Portman.

14. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?

The Guest List (obviously). So many more but I can’t think of them right now!

I think I have read about 33 books so far this year. I read biblical fiction and my favorite so far was The Pharoah’s Daughter by Mesu Andrews!

  2. I read The Guest List by Lucy Foley earlier this year and really enjoyed it (I think I gave it 3.5/5 stars on Goodreads). I’d really like to read The Hunting Party by the same author as I’ve heard they’re pretty similar.

  3. I will have to try and check in on some of these, I’ve started trying to listen to some audiobooks while Ash plays games and it has been nice to get away from the world for a while.

  4. I have seen this on youtube and have thought about joining in too. My favourite read of the year is either The Mercies or A Court of Thorn and Roses
